Yutaka Hirai

Welcome to Yutaka Hirai's website! I am a JSPS Research Fellow at the University of Notre Dame, specializing in the formation and chemical evolution of the Milky Way and dwarf galaxies through high-resolution hydrodynamic simulations. I earned my bachelor's degree from the Department of Physics at Waseda University in 2013, followed by a master's degree in 2015, and a Ph.D. in 2018 from the Department of Astronomy at the University of Tokyo. I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at RIKEN and Tohoku University before joining the University of Notre Dame in December 2021. Please take a look at my CV and publications for more details!
