Based at the Astronomical Institute, Tohoku University, we investigate protoplanetary and debris disks as well as exoplanets through observations, in close collaboration with theoretical modeling and simulations, to elucidate how planetary systems form.

Research Focus
From Disks to Planetary Systems
Using state-of-the-art telescopes and instruments, we observe protoplanetary and debris disks as well as exoplanets, tracing how disk evolution leads to the diverse architectures of planetary systems.
Constraining Formation and Evolution
In collaboration with theoretical groups, we interpret observed disk structures in the context of global dynamical evolution, using these insights to guide new observations and test the underlying mechanisms.
Linking Physics and Chemistry
Focusing on the physical and chemical evolution of disks, we aim to link dynamics and transport processes to dust growth and the compositional evolution of gas and dust, advancing our understanding of planet-forming environments.
